Basics of Radio Moderation

This workshop is intended for beginners, such as new presenters, trainees and young talents who might have already had the chance to present a test show.

Goal:

The participants learn the basics of radio moderation: Introduction, structure and content of a moderation break, “driving” correctly and how to handle different moods and emotions are part of this training.

After a workshop like this of several days’ duration and of this intensity, beginners, young talents and new presenters will be able to present their first shows without mistakes and the right technical driving.

For program managers this workshop means that within a very short period of time they will have one more staff member in their team who is able to work as a radio presenter. Ideally the new presenter will then be coached in-house and will continue with the workshop Moderation II – Professionals.

Special Features:

Each participant has its own BCI studio available. In this way what has been learned can directly be implemented and tested. Our experienced coaches will support each participant individually. The results will be continuously analyzed and discussed in group air checks.

Content:

  • Moderation basics
  • The right structure of a moderation break
  • Writing for listening
  • Show prep
  • The Ear-Catcher – creating and keeping suspense
  • Market analysis and competitor monitoring (with the Bavarian radio market as an example)
